>>Kershaw Gem Gives Dodgers Playoff Edge

(Los Angeles, CA)  —  Left-hander Clayton Kershaw stopped Milwaukee on three hits over seven innings as the Dodgers grabbed the edge in the National League Championship Series Wednesday.  The 5-2 win puts the Brewers on the brink of elimination.  Los Angeles leads the best-of-seven series three-games-to-two as it tries to make it to the World Series in back-to-back seasons for the first time in 40 years.  Lorenzo Cain’s R-B-I double in the third scored Milwaukee’s first run and Curtis Granderson knocked in the other one in the ninth inning.  The teams take today (Thursday) off, then Wade Miley starts Friday night in Milwaukee.  The lefty started Wednesday’s game, too, but walked the only batter he faced.

>>Bucks Start Fast, Hold On To Win Season Opener 113-112

(Charlotte, NC)  —  The Milwaukee Bucks built a 20-point lead, then had to fight off a charge by the Charlotte Hornets to win the N-B-A season opener for both teams, 113-112.  Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 25 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and passed out eight assists in the Wednesday victory.  Point guard Kemba Walker did most of the damage for Charlotte with 41 points.  The Hornets actually led with 36 seconds left.  Milwaukee returns home to the Fiserv Arena to host Indiana in a home opener Friday night.

>>Criminal Drug Charges To Be Filed Against Packers TE

(Appleton, WI)  —  The Outagamie County district attorney’s office confirms plans to file criminal drug charges against Packers tight end Lance Kendricks.  Marijuana was found in Kendricks’ vehicle during a traffic stop on Interstate-41 last year.  He was originally released with a warning for speeding, then he was cited for marijuana possession in December.  The citation was dismissed last week so the more series criminal charge could be filed.

>>Badgers Basketball Holds Annual Red-White Scrimmage Sunday

(Madison, WI)  —  Everybody gets in free when the Wisconsin Badgers basketball team holds its annual Red-White scrimmage Sunday afternoon.  Preseason practices started three weeks ago.  The doors will open at the Kohl Center at 2:00 P-M, with the scrimmage starting 90 minutes later.  The Badgers return almost 95 percent of last year’s scoring and will be led by two-time All-Big Ten forward Ethan Happ.  Fans who show up will be able to meet coaches and players during an autograph session after the scrimmage.  The season opens November 2nd with U-W-Oshkosh visiting.
