WLDY-WJBL NEWS 5-2-18

The rain is done, and totals have varied greatly with a couple hundredths to tenths of an inch in our northern counties and up to almost two and a half inches south. Here are some of the highest totals: 2.47″ Readstown, 2.24″ St. Joseph, 2.07″ De Soto, 1.72″ Houston, 1.66″ Elba and 1.38″ in Cataract. Here at our WEAU studio we picked up a total of 0.56″.

A cold front will be to our south today, draped across Southern Wisconsin and becoming nearly stationary. This will take rain chances further south as well, leaving us dry through the day. Clouds will mix with some sun at times and it will be more seasonable with highs in the mid 60’s. A few showers and storms will again primarily pass across southern areas at night, with lows in the mid 40’s. The front won’t move much even into Thursday, while a wave of low pressure is also forecast to develop to the south. This could push a bit further north, returning shower chances to the Chippewa Valley. Thursday looks to start off with some sun, then clouds will be increasing with a few spotty showers and storms possible by late afternoon, especially south, while our best chance to see a bit of rain will come at night. This system will then quickly exit by early Friday, returning dry weather.

Tuesday night at about 10:30 the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office received a call advising there was a Green F150 truck with a loud exhaust that drove through the trailer park on West Pine Avenue, Bruce, a couple times and then left. According to the report, the caller thought it was strange as they did not stop at any residences. Rusk County deputies responded to the call and made a traffic stop by the West Pine Trailer Park with this vehicle. After an investigation a County deputy advised to contact Probation and Parole for a subject. Probation and Parole placed a hold on the subject who was transported to the Rusk County jail.

A Ladysmith Officer just after 10 PM Tuesday night, was on patrol when he observed Rhonda J. Areneson outside of the 211 Club. The Officer found that Arneson was on bond through Rusk County and was not able to enter an establishment where the primary purpose is the sale of alcohol. The Officer arrested Arneson for Misdemeanor Bail Jumping and was transported to the Rusk County jail.

Clark County (WQOW) – Two Clark County parents face a combined 25 charges after police said they were selling drugs and storing them within reach of their children.

Caleb Quelle and Elizabeth Mollan were charged in Clark County Monday.

According to the complaint, investigators had a criminal informant buy heroin from the couple on three different occasions in January.

On Friday, police searched their home, finding drugs and paraphernalia throughout the house in reach of their three children. That included marijuana hidden in an Easter basket, and heroin in an M&M’S container.

One of the children was still breastfeeding. Police said that child tested positive for cocaine.

Both Quelle and Mollan return to court at the end of May. If convicted on all charges, Quelle faces more than 60 years in prison and Mollan face up to 97.
