>>Kenseth Returns To NASCAR Next Month

(Concord, NC)  —  Racing news sources report a news conference will be held Wednesday to announce the return of Wisconsin native Matt Kenseth to NASCAR Cup Series competition.  Kenseth is set to share Roush Fenway Racing’s Number-Six car in the rest of the 2018 season.  Trevor Bayne has driven that car on a full-time basis for three years, but he will move to part-time status.  Kenseth began his Cup Series career with the company 17 years ago, leaving to drive for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2013.  He was replaced at the end of last season by 21-year-old Erik Jones.  The announcement will be made at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte.

>>3 University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panther Starters Leave Program

(Milwaukee, WI)  —  Three members of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee basketball team are transferring from the school.  Junior guards Brock Stull and Jeremiah Bell and sophomore forward Bryce Nze were all starters and all averaged scoring in double figures.  Though they referred to the unstable nature of the Panthers program, all three said they were leaving the team on good terms with Coach Pat Baldwin.  Sophomore guards August Haas and Jeremy Johnson left last month and three of the four players signed in the early signing period have asked to be released from their national letters of intent.  Baldwin finds himself facing a major rebuild of the program in just his second season next year.

>>New Packers GM Facing 1st N-F-L Draft

(Dallas, TX)  —  New Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has conducted another dress rehearsal for this week’s 2018 N-F-L Draft.  Approaching the first Packers draft where he is in the spotlight, Gutekunst wants to make sure nothing goes wrong.  He’s working to minimize the potential for confusion when the names start coming off the board Thursday.  There’s a lot of work which goes into a team’s annual draft.  For instance, Green Bay starts working toward the 2019 draft next week, right after the 2018 draft is over.  One of the worries for the new G-M is that his team might “over-prepare” for the all-important annual selection of former college players.  One of the big challenges is — a lot of information is still coming in about those players, and a lot of it is false.

>>Brewers SP Wade Miley Working His Way Back

(Biloxi, MS)  —  Coming back from an injured groin is a work in progress for Milwaukee left-hander Wade Miley.  He threw the ball exceptionally well during spring training before suffering the injury.  Miley is pitching again, but not very successfully for Double-A Biloxi.  In three innings Sunday, he gave up four runs.  Miley has made a pair of starts, allowing 10 hits and six runs — including three home runs — over five-and-two-thirds innings.  The Brewers will be making the decision whether to add him to the big-league roster or let him opt out of his contract soon.
